Born in Catawba County on August 19, 1931, he was the son of the late Abner J. and Carrie Ola Sigmon Patton.
In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his brother John Patton.
Bob was a lifelong member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA, an Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. An active member of the American Legion Post 48, where he was former commander and a state commander from 1994-1995. He was also a member of the 40/8 of the American Legion, a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and a Mason.
He was owner/operator of Patton Electronics.
He is survived by his wife Willa Jean Hughes Patton of the home; daughters Kim Long and husband Wayne of Hickory, and Kelly Killian and husband Marty of Hickory; sons Robby Patton and wife Marla of Conover, Jason Patton and wife Lisa of Valdese; daughter Angie Tate and husband Darrin of Lincolnton; sons Rick Owens and wife Penny of Lincolnton and Eric Owens and wife Chris of Lincolnton; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and his dog Nugget.
He will lie in state Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at Hickory Funeral Home. Casket will be closed, family will not be present, and register book will be available for guest to sign.
Private graveside service will be held for the family at St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA Cemetery with Reverend Leonard Bolick officiating with military honor rites by Amvets Post 76.
