Robert David Cox

Robert “Bob” David Cox, 79 of Sherrill’s Ford, NC sadly left us on Friday, June 7th, 2024.

Born on February 2nd, 1945 in Allegheny County, PA. He was the son of the late Sewell James and Alberta Gearing Cox.

He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and worked in the electronic industry for many years before retiring from General Electric Company.

He fought his failing health for a long time and when pushed to go to the hospital would often tell us, “Oh [please] Mr. Custer, I don’t wanna go.” Even during this difficult time, you have to appreciate his sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his siblings Richard Cox and Betty Atwell.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his wife of 32 years, Ann Koon Cox; his children Micheal (Tonya) Cox, Michelle Danna, Toni (Don) Perryman, and Wendy Vanover; his brothers Ronald (Sallie) Cox and Donald (Louise) Cox; his grandchildren Devan Cox, Logan Cox, Justin Danna, Max Danna, Dakota Perryman, Samuel Perryman, Elizabeth Vanover; his great- grandchild Kinsleigh Cox; his nephews James Atwell, Nicholas Cox, David Cox, Christopher Cox; his nieces Christy Kiser, Tricia Kristufek and his beloved companion and cat, Bamboo, who spent countless hours sitting on his knee.

We all love and miss him very much. Until we meet again, we will cherish our loving memories of you.

A receiving of family and friends will be held Monday, June 24th, 2024, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at Catawba Memorial Park followed by a Celebration of Life Service at The Chapel of Memories Mausoleum with Pastor Cecil Spry officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Catawba County Library System at https://www.catawbacountync.gov/county-services/library/about/contribute/ in Robert’s name.
