Richard Douglas Dellinger, 48, of Hickory, found peace on October 20, 2016 at his residence. Born July 7, 1968 in Catawba County, he was the son of Richard Gerald Dellinger and Sonji Lynn Rush. Richard, a member of the Virginia National Guard, was a gifted guitarist and loved to write music.
In addition to his parents, Richard is survived by a brother, Kevin Mark Dellinger and wife Melissa of Hickory; longtime friend, Cassie McGurdy and her son Justin; a close childhood friend, Butch Saul; many aunts and uncles; two nieces and one nephew.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2016 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Rev. Bill Strum officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
