Raymond was born November 21st, 1920 in Watauga County to the late Roby Hollar and Lucy Townsend Hollar.
Raymond was a member of Miller’s Lutheran Church. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and served in Pearl Harbor, he was retired from Clark Tire Company and at Siecor, and after retiring he enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roby and Lucy Hollar, also his wife Doris Huffman Hollar.
Surviving are three sons, Dale Hollar and wife Ruth Ann of Newton, Mike Hollar and wife Felicia of Hickory, and Tim Hollar of Hickory; eight grandchildren, Lindsey, Shannon, Bryon, Isaac, Jordan, Chad, Mandy Hollar, and Meghan Waters; six great-grandchildren; a brother, David Hollar; and a sister, Addie Bentley.
A Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at Miller’s Lutheran Church with the Reverend Bob Alle and Reverend Bill McCabe officiating
Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. Military Honors will be rendered by American Legion Post #48.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 from 1:45 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. at Miller’s Lutheran Church.
