Conover – Peggy Jean Shoe Currie, 85 of Conover went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Carolina Caring surrounded by her family.
Born on February 20th, 1938 in Mecklenburg County, NC, Peggy was the daughter of the late James Shoe and Mary Magdalene McClellan Helms. She was a tenaciously fierce and strong woman who loved her family with all her heart.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Larry Monroe Currie; her son, Timothy Monroe Currie; her nephew, Jerry Griffin, and her niece Dawn Merritt.
Those left to cherish her memory include, her daughter, Candace Harrington (Mark); her grandsons, Matthew Fisher (Jenn) and Taylor Fisher; her sister, Barbara Griffin; her niece, Kimberly Mullis (Wendell) and nephew, Mark Griffin (Angela), as well as, eight great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28th, 2023 at 6:00 pm, with Pastor John Woods officiating.
Peggy will be interred at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory, NC with her husband and son.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring (Hospice) of Catawba County, NC in Peggy’s name.
