Pearl Benfield Prince

CONNELLY SPRINGS Pearl Benfield Prince, 92, passed away Dec. 15, 2014 at Carolina Rehab after a period of declining health. Pearl was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Alexander County to the late Smith Lee Oliver and Etta Spencer Benfield. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Daniel P. Prince; son, Edwin Lamont Prince; six sisters and three brothers. She was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. She faithfully served the church working with children and in the church kitchen. She retired from Akline, Inc. Surviving are her daughter, Deborah Ann Johnson, of Connelly Springs; son, Tony Curtis Prince, of Conover; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Jo-Ann Green, of Hickory. Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m., at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, with Dr. Dale Watts and the Rev. Homer Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 17, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. Condolences may be made online at www.hickoryfh.com.
