Paul Edward McCracken

CONOVER – Paul Edward McCracken, 79 of Conover went home to be with the LORD on February 15, 2019.

Born on June 19, 1939 in Yancey County, he was the son of the late Joe T. and Mary Ballew McCracken. Paul was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He was very talented furniture craftsman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, April Pressley and brother, Billy McCracken.

Survivors include his daughters, Rebecca Jones of CA, Emma Starnes of Conover, Ruth Kiziah and husband David of Denver; grandchildren, Michael Jones and wife Elizabeth of NM, Christopher Jones and wife Tiaja of CA, Matthew Jones and wife Vida of CA, Hannah Jones of CO, Joshua, Jordan, and Jacob Starnes of Claremont, Virginia Anthony of Maiden, Christopher Kiziah of Denver; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jean Lail of Conover, Helen Waugh of Conover, Johnny McCracken and Cathy of Charlotte, and a number of other family members.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 2 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Frye and Rev. Mitch Pharr officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 PM -2 PM at the funeral home.
