Our father Pang Yia Vang, 74, of Conover passed away on July 31, 2024, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Born in the Xieng Khouang Province of Laos in 1950 to Chua Pao Vang (Tshuas Pov) and Xia Vue, he immigrated to Fresno, California in 1987 and eventually made his way to Hickory, North Carolina in 1997 where he made his home. Pang Yia served alongside the United States during the Secret War in Laos. He was honorably discharged after being wounded.
He is survived by sons Lao, Vue, Kao, Shoua, Kou, Pheng, Chong, Sher, and daughters Mai Ker, Ia, Chao, Ong, Shoua, Davoua, Julie, Yer, and Brenda, and their spouses, as well as, 46 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at Catawba Funeral Home, 3060 US Hwy 70 SE, Hickory NC 28602.
Doors will open for guests at 4:00 pm with the service starting at 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 16, 2024.
A morning service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM followed by an afternoon service from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
Pang Yia will be laid to rest there after a graveside service beginning at 3:00 PM.
