Nancy Walker Smith

HICKORY----Nancy Walker Smith, 80, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 after a brief illness.Nancy was born July 1, 1934 in Guilford Co., NC. to the late Thomas William Walker and Mary Elizabeth Monroe Walker. She was preceded in death by her son; Kenneth Paul Jones, sister; Betty Walker, brothers; Marvin Walker, Jimmy Walker, Ray Walker, Raymond Walker, and Charles Walker, Nancy was a member of Spencer Rd Baptist, she worked at Walker Hosiery Mill for most of her life, and then later helped care for the elderly.Surviving is her daughter, Pamela Elizabeth Potts and fiancé Tony Bevins of Hickory; son, William “Keith” Jones and wife Toni of Hickory ; Grandchildren Jeremy Potts, Michael Potts, Brian Kistler, Kent Jones, Jonathan Jones, Sarah Jones, Erica Bevins ,and Eric Dale Bevins; sister, Glenda Kelly, brothers, Stephen Walker; Tommy Walker.Services will be Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 2:30pm at the Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 1:15pm to 2:15pm at Hickory Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC. 28658.
