HICKORY - Morris Ray Hall, 71, passed away March 23, 2015 at his residence. Morris was born February 1, 1944 in Yancey Co. to the late Eugene and Nellie Grindstaff Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Dennis Hoyle.He was retired from the U. S. Army after 28 years of service, member of the American Legion Post #48 and a member of the Moose Club. He was a mechanic for the U. S. Army National Guard and loved hunting and fishing. Surviving is his wife, Doris Byrd Hall; son, Stephen Ray Hall and wife, Lina of Hickory; daughter, Kristin Marie Hall of Hickory; stepson, Jeremy Hoyle; granddaughters, Maria Hall and Taylor Hall; step granddaughter, Sidney Hoyle; step grandson, James Hoyle; brothers, Jerry Hall and wife, Polly of Newton, Richard Hall and wife, Sylvia of Marion and Ronnie Hall of Vale and a sister, Darla Johnson and husband, Rick Beard of Hickory. The family will receive friends Friday, March 27, from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Dale Watts officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #48.
