Melvin F. Sigmon

NEWTON - Melvin F. Sigmon, 94, passed away at his residence Saturday June 13, 2015 after a period of declining health.Melvin was born August 15, 1920 in Catawba Co. to the late Martin Floyd and Dora Mae Mauney Sigmon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Adrienne Warren Sigmon; Second wife, Dorothy Lutz Barger Sigmon and a brother, Glenn Sigmon.He was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church. He retired as a self-employed painter. He loved gardening, being outdoors, ACC basketball and the Atlanta Braves.Surviving is daughter: Barbara Starr Beaudoin and husband Dennis of Simpsonville, SC; son Keith Sigmon and wife Patricia of Winter Park, FL; granddaughter, Shelly Sims and husband Mark of Chapin, SC; great grandsons, Hayden Sims and Spencer Sims of Chapin, SC; brother Clinton “Jimmy” Sigmon and wife Edith of Newton; sister Doris Yount and husband Rev. Glenn Yount of Newton; sister-in-law Martha Sigmon of Newton; step daughter, Barbara Lael and husband Jerry of Newton; step son Glenn Barger and wife Beverly of Newton; step grandsons Scott Lael and wife Jean, Bradley Lael and wife Marsha, and Aaron Lael and wife Amanda; step great granddaughters, Kelsie Lael, Joslyn Lael and Addyson Lael; great grandson Brewer Lael.The family will receive friends on Tuesday June16th from 1:30 until 2:45 PM at New Jerusalem Lutheran ChurchServices will be held at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church on Tuesday June 16th at 3:00 PM with Rev. Randall A. Cauble officiating.
