Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on February 9, 1930, he was the son of the late Emmauel Marsh and Eva Kerds Marsh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Betty Jo Lockman. He had numerous brothers and sisters all residents of Colorado.
Melvin was a proud veteran of the United States Army, also a paratrooper for the 82nd Air Borne Division. He was a member of the Cattleman’s Association, and the Gideons Association. Melvin loved to raise cattle and work in the field. Melvin also owned and operated Lockman’s Body Shop for more than 40 years. He was a lifetime member of Encounter Church Hickory, formerly Sweetwater Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Darrell Lockman, Dwayne Lockman and wife Debbie of Hickory; two grandchildren Christpher Lockman and a granddaughter, two great grandchildren, Juliana Blackwell, and Paris White.
Memorial service to honor Melvin, will be held, Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at Encounter Church Hickory with Pastor Elijah London officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park with military honors.
