Mary Nell Shufford

Mary Nell Eggers Shufford, 74 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 23, 2023 at Carolina Caring of Newton surrounded by her family.

Born on October 10, 1949 in Watauga County, NC, Mary was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Lucy Milsaps Eggers. She had a giving and loving heart to all who knew her. Her many hobbies included, cooking and baking for all, and roaming Saturday mornings with her late sister, Iris Kelly. Mary had a passion for babysitting children and taking care of her neighbors. She had a sassy personality and would light up every room she walked into. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, many brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her husband of 52 years, Gary E. Shufford; brother, Alfred Eggers; a daughter, Sonya Shufford; a son, Dusty Shufford; 3 granddaughters, Chelsey Greene, Mercedes Shufford and Lily Tatum and a grandson, Zachary Shufford, as well as, many great grandchildren.

The family will schedule a Celebration of Life Gathering at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring of Newton in Mary’s name.
