Mary Stafford Powell

HICKORY----Mary Stafford Powell, 84 passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Mary was born April 9, 1931 in Catawba County to the late Wilson and Iva Keller Stafford. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her 5 sisters and 8 brothers. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Mary is survived by her husband Raeford “Ray” Powell of the home; a daughter Sandra Herman and her husband Ron of Hickory; her son Dickie Powell and his wife Linda of Conover; her grandson Scott Powell and his wife Donna of Hickory; her granddaughter Diana Mauney and husband Patrick of Raleigh; her great grandsons Justin Powell and wife Heather of Hickory and Nathan Mauney and fiancé Ashley of Cary. The family will receive friends Monday, November 23, 2015 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at Hickory Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 3:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend J. David Bryant officiating. Mary will lie in state 30 mins prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
