Mary Lou McClelland, after 90 years of blessed life, passed peacefully on the evening of April 30th. She was surrounded and supported by loving family and caregivers during her last days. Mary Lou was born in Combs, KY, to Forrest and Myrtle Clemons, growing up with her twelve siblings in several Kentucky and West Virginia Coal Mine towns. After relocating to Southwest Florida in the late 1940's she soon married and raised her family there. Mary later settled in Stanly County North Carolina for over forty years until her passing. She leaves behind an amazing legacy of love, caring for one another and a compassion for life.
Mary Lou is survived by two children (and spouses): Debbie Barbato (Danny) of Casselberry, Fla and Charles McClelland Jr (Teresa) of Hickory, NC.
She was preceded in death by husband Charles McClelland Sr and her daughter Patty Goltz (Bill).
"Nanny" is survived by seven grandchildren (and spouses): Brandy Goltz, Chris Goltz (Erika), Brian Goltz (Crystal), Gregg McClelland (Laura), Kelly D’Haiti, Danielle Flipse (Ryan) and Courtney McVey (Connor); as well as nine great grandchildren: Blaine Goltz, Madison McClelland , Christopher Goltz, Shaylen Goltz, Olivia Goltz, Jackson McClelland, Teddy Flipse, Harry Flipse, Arie D’Haiti, Samantha Flipse and Tallulah Flipse.
Mary Lou is also survived by her sister Pam McEwen and Nelly Clemons both of Florida.
