Martha Louise (Moretz) Simpson

HICKORY- Martha Moretz Simpson, 79, of Hickory, passed away peacefully at Carolina Caring Hospice on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 with her loving niece Jodi Moretz Jonas by her side. Born in Catawba County on September 15, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo Taylor and Clorette Sigmon Moretz. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Olin Simpson and her son James Bradley Simpson. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Allison Simpson and granddaughter Meredith Simpson both of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; sister Brenda Finley of San Clemente, CA; brothers Thomas Moretz of Linville Falls, and Terry Moretz (Crystal) of Vale; half-brother Taylor Moretz of Loganville, GA; number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm at Zion Lutheran Church. Funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with Reverend David Drysdale officiating.
