Margie Smith Propst

Margie Lee Smith Propst, 78, passed away Saturday April 18, 2015 after a period of declining health. Margie was born March 29, 1937 in Burke Co. to the late Ellis Smith and Emma Shook Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Denise Roberts and brothers Paul Rouse and David Smith.She retired from the Lutheran Home and also worked for Lisa’s Hallmark for numerous years and was a member of Unity Lutheran Church. Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Robert Propst of the home; Daughters Karen Harris and husband Leroy, Joan Bolick, and Vickie Rogers and husband Wayne of Hickory; her sons Darrell Propst of Hickory, and Robert Propst Jr and wife Regina of Granite Falls; sisters Betty Curlee of Conover and Mary Roseman of Hickory; brothers Billy Wade Smith of Salisbury and Ellis Smith Jr of Maiden; Grandchildren Kevin Harris, Christy Hoke, Kim Rogers, Jerry Rogers, and Kali Propst; along with four great grandchildren.The family will receive friends Wednesday April 22, 2015 from 1:45pm-2:45pm at Hickory Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday April 22, 2015 at 3pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Bollinger officiating.
