Born January 12, 1943 in Woodville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clarence Russell Rollins and Caroline Agnes Vestal Rollins. A member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church (LCMS), he previously owned and operated Carolina Fishing and Trains in Hickory. He was an avid fisherman and model train collector. Larry was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Vietnam war.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Pauken.
Larry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean Rollins; sons, Rob Rollins and wife Veronica and Mike Rollins and wife Elizabeth, both of Hickory; grandchildren, Erica Whisnant and Jordan Rollins; brother, Dave Rollins and wife Sherry of Ohio; and sisters, Raylene Rollins of Florida and Darlene Ehmke and husband Jerry of South Carolina.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6th, 2016 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church (LCMS) with Rev. David Guelzow and Rev. David Ziehr officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbarium at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
