Hickory – Larry John Furguson, 72 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Monday. December 5, 2022 at Catawba Valley Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Born on June 7, 1950 in Delaware County, Sydney, New York. He was the son of Mildred Mae Furguson and the late Gilbert John Furguson.
Those left to cherish his memory include, his wife of 52 years, Deborah Furguson; his son Chad Larry Furguson and his wife Tracy and his son Brett John Furguson and his wife Cara; his grandchildren Haley, Conner, and Ian.
Larry was an important figure to so many people in his lifetime. His tenacity and persistence, no matter the job, was evident in his thirty-six years at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York. Beginning at the ground floor, moving all the way to the management of many different departments and people, to whom he was an inspiration and enabler of greatness, his impact on an innumerable amount of those who worked for him led to many relationships that lasted until his very end. Larry also convinced his wife to buy an old farmhouse when their boys were young and spent the next twenty-five years dabbling in farming and masterfully remodeling the property into a unique and magnificent home filled with love and lessons for a lifetime. He continued his love of woodworking, moving into carving, still meticulously creating and inspiring projects, despite the Multiple Sclerosis that was slowly stealing him away for over twenty years as he so often stoically suffered agonizing pain and debilitation to bring his family together, generating an incomparable strength in them all. He helped so many in his life and continues despite his early departure. May he rest in the peace he so deserves now that his long struggle has come to its completion. Larry is on an eternal ride upon the ’99 Harley Davidson Road King Classic that he for three years pestered Debbie to get and was only able to enjoy on this Earth for as many.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tunnel 2 Towers in Larry’s name.
