Kenneth Raymond MacLeod, age 78, of Hickory, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton surrounded by his loved ones. Kenneth was born January 24, 1939 in Weymouth, MA to the late Raymond MacLeod and Margaret Herman MacLeod.
Kenneth was a veteran of the US Army National Guard, having served from 1959 to 1964 and had served as a volunteer firefighter in New Jersey and Vermont for over 15 years. He retired from General Office Environments where he had worked as Vice President of finance. Kenneth was most proud of his volunteer work through USAID for foreign countries where he had served in Panama, Russia, Poland, Republic of Georgia, and Moldova.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David MacLeod.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 29 years, Brenda Walsh MacLeod; and daughter, Kathryn MacLeod of Maine.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Chaplain Bruce Dayton officiating. Military Rites will be presented by American Legion Post #48 following the service.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
