Kay (Townsend) Kanupp

Born in Catawba County on May 23, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Martin Dean and Annie Mae Norris Townsend.

Her husband Jesse “Jet” Kanupp; daughter Revonda Young, and her sons Jesse Kanupp Jr. and Terry Kanupp and daughter-in-law Anita Kanupp preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sons Harold Kanupp of Hickory and Mark Kanupp and wife Annette of Hickory; Daughter-in-laws Lucille Kanupp of Hickory and Peggy Kanupp of Hudson; son-in-law Kenneth Young; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters Martha Hall and Kathy Baldwin; brothers Martin Townsend and wife Darlene and Tommy Townsend and wife Sheila, and her constant companion fur baby Bella.

The family would like to express a special thank you to her caretakers, Auncie Derr-Holmes and Echo Starnes for the care they gave Kay.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm at Hickory Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held, Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Joe Dempsey officiating.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Young Jr., Mark Kanupp Jr., Nathaniel Kanupp, Jaiden Young, Dereck Starnes and Chris Baldwin.
