Kathryn Miller Roberts

ICARD—Kathryn Miller Lutz Roberts, 91 of Icard passed away peacefully at Hickory Falls Health and Rehab on Friday, April 28, 2017. Born Mary Kathryn Miller in Burke County on June 2, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Elmore and Hattie Starnes Miller. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband Linton Lutz (1969), her 2nd husband Frank Roberts (1987), a step granddaughter Millie; step-grandson Gordon Beach; sister-in-law Edna Miller; 8 sisters and 10 brothers. A loving mother and grandmother, she was a caring and generous soul who spent her life giving to others. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. Known as “Nana Kat” to her family she is survived by her daughters Dianne Williams and her husband Gary of Granite Falls and Kathy Tutera and her husband Albert of Orlando, FL; her grandchildren Lauren Durham and husband Greg of Leesburg, VA, Erika Walker and husband Todd of Vienna, VA, Derek Williams and wife Dawn of Wilksboro, Dion Williams and wife Susan of Camden Wyoming, DE, and Brad House and wife Laurel of Arlington, VA; 6 great grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; step-daughters Joyce Beach, and husband Gordon of Plano, TX, Frankie Byrum and husband McCauley “Mac” of Denver, NC , Dr. Charlotte Roberts of Sherrills Ford, and step- grandson Robert Beach. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm at Hickory Funeral Home. The funeral will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Russell Makant officiating. Pallbearers will be Derek Williams, Dion Williams, Brad House, Greg Durham, Todd Walker and Bobby Yount. Burial will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Vale. The family would like to give a special thanks to Caldwell Hospice staff, Donna, Amy, Linda and Carla and the staff at Hickory Falls Health and Rehab for their special care they took with Kathryn.
