HICKORY— Christine Silver Hewitt, 78, of Hickory passed away peacefully at Catawba Regional Hospice on Monday, May 22, 2017. Born Julia Christine Silver in McDowell County on December 23, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Roy Hicks Silver and Martha Virginia Hunter Silver. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Hewitt Jr., a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Peggy Silvers. She is survived by her daughters Teresa Hewitt Ritchie and husband Jerry of Hickory, Cynthia Hewitt of Hickory; son Tim Hewitt and wife April of Hickory; sister Shirley Pope of Asheville; brother Jerry Silvers and wife Robbin of Marion; grandchildren Brice Shoffner, Abigail Hewitt, Madison Norket, Will Norket, Kinsey Ritchie and Benjamin Ritchie; great granddaughter Hannah Shoffner; nieces, nephews and other relatives and cousins that were double sisters Adirennie McDill, Laura Inman and Faye Weise. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 1:45 pm at St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo-Synod. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm at St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo-Synod with Pastor Dave Guelzow and David Ziehr officiating.
Inurnment will be Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10:00 am at Catawba Memorial Park.
