Judy Ann Regan Reed, 69, of Taylorsville, courageously fought an aggressive gastric cancer for 15 months before being called home to the Lord on Monday, July 31, 2017 at her daughter’s residence. Judy was born April 9, 1948 in Lenoir, NC, to the late Ralph Regan and Nonnie Vee Burleson Regan. A member of Huntington Hills Church of God, she loved to sing in the choir (where she met Phillip Cline of Hickory, her companion for 30 years). She was happy, optimistic, a fighter (known as the Warrior), had a great sense of humor, loved to write and travel, especially the beach and the mountains. She was strong in her faith and could take any situation and see the bright side of things. She loved her 4 legged friend Sophie, who stayed close to her right up to the end.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mickey Wilson.
Judy is survived by her daughters, Cindy Papazekos of Hickory and Stephanie Winkler and husband Tim of Connelly Springs; sister, Lois Caldwell and husband Larry of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Nick Papazekos, Jake Papazekos, Regan Winkler and Bailey Winkler; nieces, Lori H. Klingensmith and husband Robert of Hickory and Virginia Shaw; and nephews, Curtis Huffman and wife Stacey of Terrell and Erik Weaver and wife Dawn of Taylorsville.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Pastor Dale Faulkenberry officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. A reception will follow the service.
