John McIntosh Robinson, age 79, of Atlanta, GA, joined with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 17th, 2023 in Hickory, NC. He was born on March 12, 1944 in Atlanta, GA, son to James Barnum Robinson and Hattie Frances Robinson (McIntosh).
He attended Dykes High School in Atlanta, GA where he played French horn in the marching band. He later attended Clemson University and Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA to obtain bachelor’s and master’s degree in business. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years and then worked for The Aaron’s Company, then Aaron Rents, as vice-president of special projects for many years. Married to Rebecca Ruth Kellogg on May 6th, 1972 at Peachtree Presbyterian Church, Atlanta, GA, they traveled opening stores for Aaron Rents in Orlando, Miami, and Tampa before returning in 1983 to open his own party rental business, Tables & Chairs, Inc. in Chamblee, GA.
He was active member in The Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity during college and after, where you would find him most weekends fishing at the fraternity owned lake property in Duluth, GA. He was also an active member in the Buckhead Rotary Club. He enjoyed tying flies, collecting fishing equipment, loving on his cats, and spending time with his son, grandchildren, nephew, niece, and their families.
He is predeceased by his wife, Rebecca Robinson; brother, Jim Robinson; father, James Robinson; and mother, Frances Robinson. He is survived by his son, Brian (Abby) Robinson, grandchildren, Erilyn Robinson and Brennan Robinson, nephew, Dwight (Jamie) Robinson, and niece, Amber (Jeff) Lamote. He was also a great uncle to 4 children: Karr, Zane, Joy, Josie.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Peachtree Presbyterian Church Kellett Chapel, 3434 Roswell Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30305, on May 23rd, 2023 at 2pm officiated by Rev. Vicki Harrington Franch. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Atlanta Humane Society which can be done through their website or clicking the link here.
