He grew up in Jersey City graduating from William Dickinson High School in 1966. He continued onto the University of Tampa on a football scholarship graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor’s Degree in teaching. He had been a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity since his time at Tampa. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree from Aurora College in Illinois which he received in 1978.
He married his wife Carolyn in 1983 and they have lived in Hickory, North Carolina for 34 years. John spent most of his working life as an accountant in the furniture industry retiring from Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams in 2018. He spent the last years enjoying the companionship of his rescue border collie Ben.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, his sister Joyce Forshee Rodrigues, his two daughters Michelle Forshee and Stephanie Forshee, and his son Eric Forshee and Eris’s wife Andrea Forshee. His six grandchildren are Brandon Callahan, Kaylee Callahan, Logan Russell, Gabriel Estrada, Anthony Estrada, and Mason Estrada.
A private service was held at the gravesite January 4, 2022 at Bethel United Methodist Church, Hickory, North Carolina.
