Joel Dallas Hollar

JOEL DALLAS HOLLAR NEWTON-Joel Dallas Hollar, 78 of Newton went home to be with his Lord on July 19, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born on July 13, 1938 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Ilease Hubbard Hollar. Joel was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a retired truck driver for Gaines Motor Lines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Brenda Wilson Hollar; and brother, Paul Hollar. Survivors include his children, Crystal Shepherd and husband Sam of Catawba, Jeff Hollar and wife Lynn of Hickory, Joel Hollar and wife Page of Newton, Jesse Hollar of Hickory; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; extended family, Sharon Hollar of Grand Junction, CO and Tina Hollar of Maiden. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 4 PM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Dr. R.M. (Bo) Caulder, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658.
