MAIDEN – Joe Dayton Whitener, 90 of Maiden passed away on March 20, 2023 at Trinity Village.
Born on October 15, 1932 in Catawba County to the late Joseph Claude and Antha Wilkinson Whitener.
A life-long resident of Maiden, he worked at Ethan Allen Furniture Company. He owned and operated Mini Drop In, located in town and worked as the custodian before his retirement at First Baptist Church where he faithfully attended for 88 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bobbie Whisenant and brother, William R. Whitener.
Survivors include his brother, Jack Whitener of Claremont; sisters, Elizabeth Connor of Claremont and Becky Ramsey of Conover; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 2 PM at First Baptist Church Maiden with Pastor Eddie Andrews officiating. Burial will follow at Maiden City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 PM – 2PM at the church.
