Joe Watts

HICKORY - Joe Watts, 84, passed away November 12, 2013 at Catawba regional Hospice after a period of declining health. Joe was born June 3, 1929 in Catawba Co. to the late Kelly Augustus and Flavia Mull Watts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Watts and Dick Watts and two sisters, Pairlee Holder and Marie Cook. He was a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church, owner of Kelly Hosiery Mill. He loved gardening, cattle farming, riding his tractor and restoring antique cars. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ora Lee Justice Watts of the home; daughters, Patricia Clanton and husband, Jack, of Statesville, Reba Mosteller and husband, Dennis, of Hickory and Debbie Teague and husband, Frank, of Hickory; son, Kelly Watts and wife, Lovanda, of Hickory; seven grandson; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Flo Buff of Connelly Springs and Jane Moretz and husband, Harley, of Bethlehem. Services will be Friday, November 15, 2013, at 5:00 P. M. at Mountain Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen E. Loftis officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 3:45 -4:45 P.
