Born in Catawba County on September 12, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Guy Paul and Pauline Houston Honeycutt.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her infant brother, Guy Paul Honeycutt Jr., and brother-in-law Douglas Barnette.
Janice was a life-long member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church-MS. Many people will remember her as the long-time secretary of St. Stephens Elementary/High School, where she served for 30 years. Following her retirement, she served as a substitute teacher for Catawba County Schools.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James “Jim” William Lane Sr., of the home; daughter Robin Pappas of Hickory; son James “Todd” William Lane Jr. of Hickory; grandchildren Alexa Lane Pappas, Lola Rose Pappas, Erin Lane Hunt and William Paul Lane, all of Hickory; great granddaughter Breana Layne Hunt; great grandson Antonio Storm Wheeless of Charlotte; her sisters Rebecca Honeycutt Poe, and husband David, and Leslie Honeycutt Barnette both of Conover, and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at St. Stephens Lutheran Church-MS.
Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor David Ziehr and Pastor Shea Pennington officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
