Born in Catawba County on January 21, 1934, he was the son of the late James Monroe and Edith Hedrick Miller.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Faye Braswell, and brothers Ray Miller, Glen Miller and Bill Miller.
Max was Owner/Operator of Max’s Digging Service Inc., and a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA.
He is survived by his wife Helen Herman Miller of the home; daughter Carol Stroupe (Chris) of Advance; sons Bryan Miller (Nelda) of Conover, Tony Miller (Cyndi) of Conover, and Darrin Miller (Kim) of Hickory; granddaughters, Erin Weaver, Ashlee Ellis, Hannah Powell, Kara Miller, and Lindsey Justice; grandsons Ashely Perdue, Trey Miller, Kolbe Miller, and Nathan Miller; 8 great grandchildren; sister Kathleen Hollar of Hildebran; brothers Guy Miller of Hickory, Tom Miller (Cathy) of Harrisburg, and Charles Miller (Virginia) of Oak Ridge TN.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the wonderful caregivers at Graceview Homes in Newton, NC as well as the staff at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 28, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:45 am at St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2022 at 12:00 pm at St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA with Reverend Terri Landers officiating.
Burial will follow in church cemetery.
