Howard John Quigley, 73 of Hickory, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2023.
Born on June 26, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the oldest son of four children of the late Howard and Bridget Cullen Quigley. Howard served as a police officer for the New York City Police Department following his service in the United States Navy. Throughout his life he wore many hard working hats, including owning his own pub “E.T. Quiggs” in Bellmore, NY to his daily beach patrol in St. Augustine Beach Florida, ’99 Jeep Division. His greatest accomplishment if asked would be his four children, Timothy, Elizabeth, Emily and Matthew. Anyone blessed to know or be loved by him will forever remember how he found joy in making you smile or laugh with his wonderful sense of humor and beautifully gracious heart.
Those left to cherish his memory include his significant other Pamela Copeland whom he loved deeply and they shared many years traveling and spoiling grandchildren together.
Howard (“Uncle Howie” “G-daddy”) will forever be remembered by his nieces and nephews of his three siblings, Sister Joan Delaney (Tim) of Islamorada, FL, his brother Tom Quigley (Denise) of Daytona, FL, his sister, Maureen Fanning (Greg) of Rockville Centre, NY. As well as, his pride and joys of life, his four beautiful granddaughters, Olivia, Allison, Charlotte and Claire.
“Grieve not… nor speak of me with tears… but laugh and talk of me as though I were beside you. I loved you so… ‘twas heaven here with you.”
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hickory on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Father Lawrence M. LoMonaco officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center of New York, New York, in Howard’s name.
