Conover – Howard Clifford Campbell, 92 of Conover went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Carolina Rehabilitation of Burke.
Born on August 29, 1928 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Sidney Calvin and Mattie Belle Campbell.
Howard was a member of the National Guard of North Carolina for 6 years. He was known for his love of gardening, sharing his homemade Chex Mix with family and friends. His favorite pastime was working jig-saw puzzles, watching old westerns on TV and spending time with his furry friend Baxter. His pride and joy were visits from his great-grandchildren, Sam and Elle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Temperance Irene Pitts “Tip” Campbell along with his brothers and sisters: twins, Floyd and Myrtle, another set of twins that died at birth, Carroll Campbell, Flossie Carter, Dorothy Moose, Bernice Rash, and Frank Campbell.
Those left to cherish his memory are a sister, Allene White of Conover; children, Kay C. Brittain of Conover, Dennis C. Campbell of Shelby, Denise C. Eckard (Chris) of Wilkesboro. Grandchildren, Nikki B. Valenti (Justin) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Whitney E. Blalock and friend Rob Kerns of Holly Springs, NC, Brooke E. Demoret (Mike) of Wake Forest, NC. Great-grandchildren, Sam and Elle Demoret.
A private graveside service will be held at Catawba Memorial Park with Rev. Lloyd King officiating.
