Henry Eugene West

HENRY EUGENE WEST HICKORY – Henry Eugene West, 84 of Hickory passed away on September 30, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born on February 1, 1932 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Robert Cleveland and Maxa Fisher West. Henry was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Smith, Ann Moore, Irene Malcom, and Geraldine Bailey. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Frances Sigmon West of the home; children, Kevin Eugene West and wife Tyra of Charlotte, Eric Scott West and wife Tammy of Taylorsville, Laura Frances West of Hickory; grandchildren, Robert Andrew West of Taylorsville, Gabrielle Racquel West of Charlotte, Daniel Claude West of Charlotte; brothers, Ralph West and wife Summa of Taylorsville, J. C. West of Mooresville; sisters, Ruth Christenbury and husband Lee of Mooresville, Shirley Snyder and husband Ralph of Eden; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 3 PM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Roger Beaver officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3 PM at the funeral home.
