Hickory – Gerald “Jerry” Franklin Sigmon, 84 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Catawba Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born on October 25, 1937 in Lincoln County, NC, Jerry was the son of the late Frank B. and Rebecca McAllister Sigmon. Jerry retired from Shuford Mills after 44 years of devoted service. His passions were NASCAR, golf, and family. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Clyde Sigmon, Robert Sigmon and Johnny Sigmon; 3 sisters, Margaret Cloninger, Evelyn Hoyle and Rachel Parlier.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Harlene Killian Sigmon; a daughter, Julia Sigmon Graham; a grandson, David “DJ” McBee; a brother, Jim Sigmon and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Crump officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring of Newton in Jerry’s name.
