Evelyn Pierce Martin

HICKORY---Evelyn Pierce Martin, 89, passed away December 24, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice after a period of declining health.Evelyn was born June 19, 1924 in Catawba Co. to the late Ethel Pierce Riley. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Martin, Sr.She was a Christian woman who loved the Lord Jesus. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church for 50 years. Her church membership was centered around serving the Lord faithfully by teaching the children in Sunday School. She retired from Rolane Sales after 29 years of service. Surviving are her daughters, Linda Dawn Barbour and husband, Keith, of Hickory and Belva Keighron and husband, Richard, of Mt. Holly; sons, Robert V. Martin, Jr. and wife, Lynn, of Lenoir and Timothy A. Martin and wife, Mary Beth, of Greensboro; granddaughter, Lisa B. Boyles; grandsons, Brent Martin, Matthew and Clay Barbour, and Tyler Martin; great granddaughter, Alia Boyles; great grandson, Alex Boyles.Services will be Friday, December 27, 2013, at 11:00 A. M. at Highland Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Lott officiating. Interment will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 9:45 – l0:45 A.
