She was born on November 7, 1944 to the late Walter D. Holden and Irma Hodge Holden in Avery County. She was a member of New Testament Church.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Joyce Marie Holden.
Survivors include her husband, Morris Mitchell of the home; daughters, Glenda Lail and husband Jefferson of Conover, Debbie Lackey and husband Marvin of Hickory, Rebecca Uzzell of Newton; sons, Mike Mitchell and wife Kim of Newton, Joseph Mitchell of Newton, and Jeffery Mitchell of Conover; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sister, Martha Rodatz and husband Lee of Hickory; brother, Larry Holden and wife Shirley of Connelly Springs.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy Hayton will be officiating the services. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the wonderful care they received from the nurses that cared for Dorothy, Joann, Debbie, Cathy, Sally, and her sister Martha.
