Dorothy Ruth Lanier Miller

HICKORY---Dorothy Ruth Lanier Miller, 81, went to her eternal home on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Dorothy was born August 13, 1933 in Catawba Co. to the late Edgar Henry and Nellie Ruth Pitts Lanier. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Guy Miller; daughter, Teresa Killian and husband, Rick, of Hickory; sons, Patrick Miller of Newton and Jonathan Miller and wife, Karissa, of Bethlehem; granddaughter, Amy Killian of Hickory; grandsons, Justin Killian and wife, Tara, of Hickory and Logan Miller of Bethlehem; great grandson, Jordan Killian of Hickory; great granddaughters, Emory Killian of Hickory and Ashton Killian of Hickory; sisters, Gladys Lanier of Boone and Ruby Lanier of Boone and a brother, Paul Lanier and wife, Doris, of Hickory. She was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, ELCA where services will be Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 11:00 A. M. with Rev. Richard Hites officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014 from 10:00 -10:45 AM at the church.
