Dorothy Jean Shook Herman, 80, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born April 24, 1936 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Franklin Shook and Dorothy Louella Bost Shook Stallings and stepfather, Frank Stallings. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and retired as a sewer from King Hickory Furniture Co.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jewell Cassell.
Jean is survived by her husband of 61 years, Phil Herman; son, Mark Herman and wife Beth of Hickory; daughter, Julie Flowers and husband Spencer of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Trae Burney and fiancé Maricruz Robledo of Durham, Corey Burney and wife Kayte of Winston-Salem, Zach Flowers and fiancé Jessica Burgess of Hickory and Cody Herman of Hickory; brothers, Randy Shook and wife Carmen of Thailand and Don Stallings and wife Debbie of Charlotte; twin sister, Dean Sipe and husband Jim of Conover and soon to be great grandbaby.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor John Shook and Pastor Scott Hooks officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers to honor Mrs. Herman will be Trae Burney, Corey Burney, Zach Flowers, Cody Herman, Mark Herman and Spencer Flowers.
