She was born on January 6, 1936 to the late Reggie Birchfield and Mildred Jenkins Birchfield in Swain County, NC.
Along with her parents, her son-in-law, Mike Mulligan and five siblings preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Verna Tapp and husband Scott of Hickory, Lori Cohen and husband Jeff of SC, CJ Mulligan of Claremont; grandchildren, Christopher Cook, Jimmy Mulligan and wife Taylor, Verlina Hoke and husband Walter, Dwayne Setzer; great grandchildren, Hunter Hoke, Abigail Hoke, Serenity Mulligan, Shannon Johnson; great-great grandchildren, Emma, Riley, and Addison Johnson; sister, Louise Frazier and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home. The family will gather with friends following the service.
