He was born June 29, 1969 and was the son of Walter McCombs and the late Margaret (Mayhew) McCombs-Meads. Darrell was a fun loving kind hearted caring man that served his country as a Marine from July 22, 1992 – July 21, 1996. He also graduated from Tennessee University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. He loved working out and was a diehard Cowboys football fan. He was loved by his family and friends.
In addition to his father he is survived by sisters, Loretta Mayhew, Donna McCombs, Stacey McCombs, Rhonda McCombs and Danielle Holden; a number of nieces, nephews and aunts, uncles and other extended family.
Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at The Salisbury National Cemetery Friday, October 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Donald Gray officiating.
A Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 to 12:00 pm at Catawba Funeral Home.
