Born February 13, 1919, in Catawba County in the Mt. View community where she lived her entire life. Clorette was the daughter of the late Abel E and Grace Morgan Sigmon. She was lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. When she was younger, Clorette enjoyed sewing. She was an excellent seamstress and made clothing for the public. She worked at Good-Nighter’s Pajama Factoy, Black’s Drug, Mann Drug and in 1994 retired from People’s Drug.
In addition to her parents, Clorette was preceded in death by a brother, Harold H. (Inez) Sigmon of Hickory; a sister, Edna S. (Paul) Moretz of Bethlehem; and a brother, James R. Sigmon of Charlotte; a son-in-law, James O. Simpson of Hickory; and a grandson, James Bradley Simpson of Hickory. She was married to the father of her children and love of her life, A. Taylor Moretz (deceased) of Loganville, Ga.
Clorette is survived by two daughters, Martha M. Simpson of Hickory and Brenda M. (Doug) Finley of Cornelius; and two sons, A. Thomas (Natalie) Moretz of Linville Falls, and Greensburg, KS and Terry W. (Crystal) Moretz of Vale; and a sister-in-law, Juanita Sigmon of Asheville. Also surviving are grandchildren, Holly Finley and Kirk (Kim) Finley of California; Logan Moretz and Jodie M. Jonas (Roger) of Vale; Austin Moretz of Linville Falls; Allison Simpson and Ashley Moretz of Hickory. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Meredith H. Simpson of Hickory; Jordan and Jessie Elliott of Vale; and Kai Lou Finley of California.
A service of remembrance will be held at 4:00 PM on August 7, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1911 Zion Church Rd., (Mt. View) Hickory, NC with the Rev. John N. Woodard officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:45 – 3:45 PM at the church. At other times the family will be at Clorette’s residence.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is deeply grateful and wishes to say a very special thank you to Mother’s caregivers, Mamie Denton for her early care given, Linda Anders and Linda Barr, who gave her such devoted loving care during the last years of her life and a special thank you to Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley.
