Carol is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Robert Welch of the home and her legacy continues through her loving daughters, Missy Childers and husband, Todd of Raleigh, as well as Pam Barber and husband, Mark of Granite Falls. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Ashley Sheetrit (Lee) of Charlotte, Austin Childers of Raleigh, Tyler Barber (Madison) of Lenoir and Alex Barber of Granite Falls. The joy of Carol’s life extended to three great granddaughters.
Carol graduated from Champaign High School, Illinois and San Diego State University with a degree in teaching. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond the classroom as evident in the warmth she shared with her children and her grandchildren.
Carol was a member of the Hudson United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was active in UMW and other church committees. Carol received the Mission Service Award twice from the UMW as this was a testament to her passion for making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Carol’s favorite pastime was cooking for family, friends and church dinners. She also enjoyed sharing the recipes that will be enjoyed by others for years to come. Her passion for cooking is carried on with her daughters.
Carol and her husband loved traveling together. They enjoyed cruises and several trips to Europe, but her greatest love was her family.
