Mr. Bobby Gene Herndon

BOBBY GENE HERNDON HICKORY – Bobby Gene Herndon, 64, of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on August 5, 2014. Born August 3, 1950 he was a son of the late Lockard and Marjorie Wise Herndon. Bobby was long-time member of Kings Way Baptist Church. He had a fondness for Tent Revivals and the Boys Club in Bristol, VA. Some of his favorite enjoyments were hunting, fishing and camping outdoors. He loved vegetable gardening and the family’s annual beach trips. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Jim Herndon and sister, Shirley Wimmer. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Dina Widner Herndon; children, Scotty White and wife Diane of TN, Kim Herndon, Wendy Taylor and husband Eric of Asheville, Sabrina Pope and husband Shane, April Hendrix and husband Clay, Heather King, April Warlick, Chris Herndon and wife Stacey, Brittany Johnson and husband Derrick, and Ashley Cooke and husband Cole; 23 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild of TN; sisters, Geraldine Cuddy of VA, Betty Britt of NC, Diane Weddle and Faye Lewis both of VA. Services will be held at Kings Way Baptist Church on Friday, August 8th at 2pm with Pastor Andy Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 12 – 2 pm.
