Bill Norman Watts, went to be with the Lord at Catawba Regional Hospice on October 13, 2013. He was an active member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church for 47 years where he served as a Deacon, on the Benevolence Committee and the church softball team. He was happily married to Christine Parker Watts for 65 years. He had six children, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. The joy of his life was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and special friends. He had a passion for gardening and sports and enjoyed a 39 year career in textiles at Shuford Mills.
In addition to his parents, Lester Watts and Bertha Stilwell Watts, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Watts Hefner; son, Jeff Watts; brothers, Bob Watts, James Watts, Harold Watts, and Sam Watts; and sister Edna Heavner.
He leaves behind a loving wife, Christine Parker Watts; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie Watts and wife Susan of Bethlehem, Steve Watts and wife Donna of Claremont, and Dale Watts and wife Linda of Hickory; daughter, Robin Watts of Hickory, and a special daughter-in-law, Angie Ross of Mountain View; brother and sister-in-law, Larry Watts and wife, Diane; sisters, Geneva Heavner and Joann Bollinger; grandchildren Diane Freeman, Kevin Watts, Tiffany Watts, Jessica Watts, Chip Watts, Christy Creson, Ryan Watts and Laura McLeymore; and 12 great grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. Pastor John Whaley and Dr. Dale Watts will officiate and burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be grandsons, Kevin Watts, Chip Watts, Ryan Watts, Justin McLeymore, Jacob Creson, and David Freeman.
