Billy Joe Terry

Born January 14, 1933 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late John Lindsey Terry and Ruth Woodie Terry. Bill was a veteran of the US Army. He graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College in 1958. He was in the motel business for many years and also owned and operated a furniture retail business before retiring. Bill loved animals and being outdoors. He was a history buff and loved genealogy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Mull and brother, David Kenneth Terry.

Bill is survived by sons, David Terry (Pam) of Charlotte, Mark Terry (Heidi) of Hickory, Mike Terry of Hickory, Billy Joe Terry, Jr. (Joan) of Longview; daughter, Jackie Canterbury (Pat) of Hickory; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Toopie Martin of Conover, Modene Echerd (Sam) of Florence, SC, Nan Eller (Max) of Newton; brother, Jerry Lee Terry of Hickory; 16 nieces and nephews; and friend and caregiver, Rebecca Cleveland.

A private graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory.
