Betty Powell Johnson

HICKORY---Betty Powell Johnson 81, went to her heavenly home, Friday, May 20, 2016 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care. Betty was born November 25, 1934 in Caldwell County to the late James M. and Laura Cannon Powell. She was a member of Shoup’s Grove Baptist Church and was a loving homemaker.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Hoye Grady Johnson; a son Allen T. Johnson; 4 sisters and 4 brothers. Betty is survived by her daughter Judy Hadden; her sons Carroll Johnson and wife Sue, Johnny Johnson and wife Kay, and Adam Johnson and wife Sharon; granddaughters Jessica Wright and husband Byron, JoHannah Hadden, and Jericah Hadden all of Hickory; grandsons Chad Johnson of Richmond, VA, Andy Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Jacob Hadden and wife Amber, Jedidiah Hadden and wife Tonya, Hoye Janoah Hadden, Jezaniah Haddon, Zebedee Hadden, all of Hickory; and great-grandchildren Avah, Aislin, Grace, Logan and Elaina. The family will receive friends Monday, May 23, 2016 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Shoup’s Grove Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 4:00pm at Shoup’s Grove Baptist Church with Reverend J.C. Bradley and Reverend Johnny Ray Johnson. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
