CONOVER – Barbara Elizabeth Ingold Wilcox, 79 of Conover passed away on March 30, 2021.
Barbara was born on March 30, 1942 in Catawba County to the late Roddey Pearson and Blanche Yount Ingold. She was an Alum of Lenoir Rhyne University, where she worked as a reporter and copy editor for the Lenoir Rhynean Paper. She was also the managing editor during her final semester. Barbara graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in journalism. Barbara was a former journalist with the Charlotte Observer, a North Carolina State employee retiree, loved reading, flowers and birdwatching. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Nello Wilcox.
Survivors include her daughter, Wendy Wilcox and husband Michael Mahoney of Royal Palm Beach, FL; and her beloved cat, Tiger Wilcox.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 1 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Royals officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11am – 1 PM at the funeral home.
