MORGANTON – Arlie Joe Powell, 86 of Morganton passed away on February 8, 2023 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson.
Joe was born on January 24, 1937 in Wilkes County to the late John and Ella Mae Powell. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Morganton and a former employee of Broyhill Furniture. Joe was a kind and loving man that enjoyed the outdoors. He was always on the go all the time and easy going. Everybody he met loved him. He was a loving father, grandfather and husband who knew the Lord. Joe brought a smile to everyone’s face. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 siblings, 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Those left to cherish his memory include, his wife, Pat Powell; sons, Mike Powell and Richard Powell; daughters, Joann, Kay, Jane and Teresa; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 1 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Boone officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 PM – 1 PM at the funeral home.
