Alvin was born on February 13, 1936 in Catawba County to the late David and Lillie Lineberger Walker. He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty seven years, Clara Burns Walker who passed away in 1993, and a son Donald Phillips and three brothers.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict. He retired from G.E. where he worked in the transformer department.
Surviving include his three sons; Todd Leroy Walker and his wife Pam Freeman Walker, Ronald Phillips and Mike Phillips and wife Debbie, all of Hickory, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brothers Clyde Walker, Charles Walker and David Walker, four sisters Carrie Davidson, Eloise McCurry and Diana Coffey and Betty Hatton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday September 29th 2012 at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Ernest Richards officiating.
Burial will follow at South Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by The American Legion Post #48.
The family will receive friends on Saturday September 29th 2012 from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
